Computing
The first computer I ever owned was an Acer Aspire 3000 laptop, and sometime in 2009 or 2010 I installed Ubuntu on it for the first time. Since then I’ve owned a MacBook Air, two Lenovo ThinkPads, and built my own desktop machine twice. I’ve used all three of the major operating systems during that time, but I’ve settled on Linux as my operating system of choice. Linux is free and open source software, and part of what makes it so great is the large community built around it. Other operating systems are made by corporations, who will use their platforms to exploit and control you for their own profit. Linux and the free software community are one of the few ways to escape this. I currently run Arch Linux on my desktop machine, and Fedora on my laptop.
